What happens when you dive into cold water? major shrinkage. Therefore the ever popular Speedo should be taken off your list when planning a trip to the beach or public swimming pool. In fact, why don't you just remove it from your wardrobe altogether and buy yourself some classy fitted shorts instead? Of course, this is only my humble opinion as a fashion enthusiast, so by all means, wear what feels and looks right for you.

Nonetheless, before you settle on the type of swimwear you'll parade in this summer, here's why I think you should avoid wearing a Speedo.

Unless you are a competitive swimmer, you really don't need the aerodynamics.

No matter how confident you are, most women will make a decison based on first impressions.

Out of a 100 women interviewed, the Speedo was the second runner up as the most noteable fashion faux-pas with 25% of the votes. So my advice doesn't stem from men's points of view, but rather women's.

Let's face it, not all of us have the body of an Adonis. So by wearing a Speedo, you might be revealing a little more than you should be and covering up might not be such a bad idea.

Generally, Speedos are more acceptable in Europe since that's what most of the natives wear. In North America however fine-looking fitted shorts rule.
